El Saka and Gencler failed to win the cup and lost
the final on penalties to Kayserispor. Original time
and extra time ended in a 0-0 draw and after a long
marathon in penalty kicks, Kayseri won to lift the cup
after winning the shootout by 11 goals to 10. El Saka
played the full match and his penalty kick was saved.
The cup final wasn't exciting at all as
both sides played with extreme caution. The first half
ended without any threat on both goals. In the first
half, Gencler had better possession but they didn't
have many forwards to convert possession to chances.
El Saka looked solid at the back and led
his team well. His marking was good and he made a fey
key tackles. However, he failed to clear a dangerous
pass in the 2nd half which could have given Kayseri
the lead.
The 2nd half also witnessed a few chances
for both sides but the score remained goal-less and
both sides had to play an extra time to decide the winner.
However, extra time also ended in a boring 0-0 draw
and a penalty shoot-out became the only option to decide
the winning team.
The shoot-out was extremely exciting as victory could
go either way during the long shoot-out. In the end,
Kayseri won as they scored 11 times out of 13 attempts
while Gencler scored only 10.
It will be surely a sad day for Gencler
and particularly, the team captain El Saka who needed
this win to end his career with as a winner of major
trophy.
It should be noted that El Saka couldn';t
score from the spot as his shot was saved by the Bulgarian
goalkeeper Ivanov.
