Trabzonspor- 2nd last season
- came to Konya to win the match and show they are still
very strong and a championship challenger. After a shock
3-2 aggregate defeat against Anorthosis at the Champions
League, they were in confusion.
El Saka's league debut: away to Galatasaray...
And Konyaspor are trying to climb above
in the table and they want to show their power with
their new transfers, including El Saka, and new manager
Aykut Kocaman
El-Saka was one of the heroes of the game. He didn't
let any danger past from Trabzonspor's attackers Fatih
Tekke (scored 31 goals last season) and Tomas Jun (scored
14 goals at Sparta Prague last year). El Saka won all
the headers from Trabzonspor's attackers and used them
very well. He also arranged Konyaspor's defence efficiently.
If he can show similar performances his team won't have
the same concern as last year; Konyaspor conceded 62
goals last season.
Their last two meetings in Konya ended 3-3 and 1-1.
Highlights:
8 mins. Konyaspor started the match very fast. Murat
Hacioglu's excellent pass met Zafer Biryol. He missed
incredibly.
23 mins. Trabzon's Fatih Tekke hit with fury on a counter
attack. The Konyaspor goalkeeper saved. After this time
all the stadium watched Konyaspor's attacks on the Trabzonspor
goal.
31 mins. Erhan Albayrak hit with fury in the area.
Trabzon goalkeeper Jefferson, one of the heroes of the
game, saved.
35 mins. Tayfun passed the ball to Biryol. He missed
unbelievably again. After a minute Levent's shot near
missed.
52 mins. Biryol hit from the right in the area. Jefferson
caused a corner.
El Saka was very successful despite Trabzonspor's rare
attacks. In the first half he passed to a player just
in front of the goal, but it was a miss. He was skilfully
obstructing rare Trabzon attacks with his team-mates.
Both teams showed tiredness due to the very hot weather,
and the game ended 0-0.
Konya and Trabzon drew again in Konya. Konyaspor gained
their first point. Konyaspor will force other teams
to make mistakes and it is obvious that every team in
the Turkish League can't stand Konyaspor's frequent
dangerous attacks.
Konyaspor and El Saka had a very hard fixture start
and they passed the most difficult first two weeks (Galatasaray
and Trabzonspor) with one point. If they had a little
luck they would have at least three points.
Manager Kocaman said his team had a very high potential
but were not ready. "When they are ready they will
be strong and they'll take what they want on the pitch,"
he commented.
