One of EP's reporters in Ankara,
Hayri Diker, speaks the mind of the loyal Genclerbirligi
fans, following El Saka's move away from the club.
It was one season ago, when Ahmed Hassan
chose to continue his career in Istanbul, at Besiktas
JK. Of course we were proud of having such a star. However,
a little bit hurt by his decision to leave Gençler.
We all accused him of choosing money over Gençler;
he wouldn't listen
anyway.
El Saka was also receiving offers from Istanbul teams,
even from abroad, at that time. But he listened to his
heart, he stayed at Gençler saying "I belong
here." Why should he leave? He was the star defender
of an upperclass team in Turkey. He loved life in Ankara.
Since then the love from the supporters to El Saka
has doubled. (We still cheer Ahmed Hassan when he comes
to our stadium away with his team, but that's all.)

El Saka also probably had personal aims like moving
to a bigger club in Europe. Therefore, Gençler
might have been just the stepping stone for him. But
Konyaspor? Definitely not!
Konyaspor have never been in the fight of achieving
the UEFA Cup spot, not even an Intertoto spot in the
Turkish Super League's history. We are not saying this
to lower Konyaspor or to offend them. It is just the
reality.
We would understand if El Saka moved to Trabzonspor,
Gaziantepspor, Denizlispor or Malatyaspor, or to Istanbul
teams, even to Bursaspor, Kocaelispor (Turkey 2.Lig
A), but not Konyaspor.
We still don't know what's going on, we still cannot
believe the transfer one of our most loyal players made,
and we are still shocked!
Thank God we still have Ayman...
