Date: 26-8-2008
Wrote: EP's reporter in Turkey Ali Avci

Turkcell Super League's rooted club Ankaragucu (Ankara Force) signed with Sherif Ekramy on a permanent deal before some interested European and UAE clubs. Ekramy had a succesful pre-season camp in Turkey with Feyenoord and Ankaragucu scouts liked the performance of the Egyptian in the goalless friendly versus Konyaspor.

Ankaragucu is the most popular club in Ankara city which has four representatives, namely Ankaragucu, Genclerbirligi (of El Saka), Ankaraspor and Hacettepe (of Azmy). The club'll pass 100 years this year and they want to show something good in the century celebration seasons. Ankaragucu has the youngest manager of the Turkcell Super League, Hakan Kutlu (36) who was the famous captain of the club.

Ekramy was presented as the young and bright keeper of Egyptian football's future to the fans. But the transfer of the goalkeeper also surprised the fans, because Ankaragucu has three keepers including national youth goalie Serkan Kirintili who had some fatal errors last season. Serkan Kirintili
also conceded three goals in the opening match of the Super League versus Konyaspor. Ankaragucu lost 3-2 in the away game. Second week'll be hard too, because the club will face the flash team of the transfer season, Ayman's former team Trabzonspor.

Sherif Ekramy is twenty five years old and transfered to Feyenoord from Al Ahly after he showed his abilities at twenty two. Ekramy could only play six official games in three long Holland league seasons. 1,91 cm keeper has four caps for Egypt, the club claimed. In fact, he has only had one!

Officials of the club told press they negotiated everything with player and club and Ekramy will come Ankara soon for the official contract. Ekramy may pass the first match of the league on the bench to adapt to the team. But last performance of Serkan Kirintili may cause Ekramy an early start on Friday evening versus Trabzonspor.

EP can confirm that the Egyptian and Ankaragucu negotiated first and Ekramy forced his Dutch club to decrease the transfer fee for a move to Turkey. Ekramy said, "Turkish football has interest in Egypt and the people follow the clubs. I want to have big success in my Turkey career.

"Egyptian player Ahmed Belal was an ex-Ankaragucu striker. I talked with him and learned somethings about the club. I want to be popular in Turkey as the leading characters of Egyptian football, Ahmed Hassan and El Saka were. I hope that the transfer will be good for me and my new club. I'll perform at my best."

EP wishes Sherif success in Turkey.
