The upcoming weeks will be a golden chance for Sherif
Ekrami to prove his worth and it might not be a surprise
if the Egyptian became the main goalkeeper for Feyenoord
Rotterdam next season.
Due to the injury of the main experienced goalkeeper
Patrick Lodewijks and the poor form of Aerts, Ekrami
finally made his long awaited debut for Feyenoord in
their home match against FC Twente.
The 2nd goalkeeper Aerts made a bad mistake which resulted
in the second goal for FC Twente in the 39th minute
of the first half which ended in a 2-2 draw despite
the fact that Feyenoord were leading by two goals till
the 23rd minute.
Because of his mistake, Aerts asked the coach Erwin
Koeman to replace him during the half time break and
the Dutch coach had no other options but to introduce
the Egyptian goalkeeper Ekrami in his place.

Ekrami came on during half time and played the entire 2nd
half which witnessed two more goals from Feyenoord and the
game ended in a 4-2 win for Feyenoord. Sherif was confident
between the sticks and the fans cheered for him with every
touch he made in the 45 minute he played.
Despite this, Ekrami wasn't tested enough during the game
as Feyenoord put their opponents under pressure.
After the game, Koeman announced that Ekrami will be the
main goalkeeper of Feyenoord till the recovery of Patrick
Lodewijks and so, the Egyptian will be the man between the
sticks in next weekend's tough away encounter between Heerenveen
and Feyenoord. Ekrami will also have a real test one week
later against the leaders of the Eredivisie PSV.
EP will bring detailed reports with multimedia on Ekrami's
upcoming matches...
