Before the match all football fans spoke about a very hard match for Galatasaray, partly because Galatasaray sent some of their most useful players to Africa such as strong defender Rigobert Song and tireless defensive midfielder Saidou. Because of this reason Galatasaray's technical staff preferred to start young players such as Ugur Ucar(18-year-old right back) and Ferhat Oztorun (18-year-old left back) and Aydin Yilmaz (18-year-old central midfielder) replaced Hasan Sas in the 84th minute.

Galatasaray's youngsters showed their class in the match as Aydin Yilmaz found the net in what was a goal-less match up to the 92nd minute.

From the Konyaspor side there was hope. They wanted to use Galatasaray's economic and squad problems.

But because of El Saka's national team duty in Egypt, Konyaspor had to change their defensive line, so left back Omer Gundostu played in the centre of the defensive line.

Konyaspor started the match with two young strikers Bebbe(23-year-old Cameroonian) and Volkan Cekic(21-year-old. EP thinks that this was a very big mistake for Konyaspor in terms of mentality. Manager Aykut Kocaman was late to change his tactical decision. Ahmed Belal and Tayfun Turkmen came on. After the new strikers were on Konyaspor started very organized attacks. Tayfun's good heading was very good and advanced for clinical striker Ahmed Belal, but taking your chances and having luck is everything in football.

Konyaspor supporters didn't come to the stadium to support their team. There were just 13,000 fans in the stadium.

The match ended 0-1.
