A handball goal from Nicolas Anelka started a series
of goals for Fenerbahce, who emerged as 4-2 winners
against Konyaspor, despite Konya having the lead with
less than 20 minutes left! Belal and El Saka started
in the big game, with Abdelzaher El Saka providing a
superb run forward ending in the assist for the opening
goal!

Konya In Control Till The Hand Ball:
Konyapor played against Fenerbahce this week in the
Turkcell Super League. Actually, this match was not
of specific importance for both teams. It was a normal
league match. But after Anelka handballed into the net
(looking like the famous Maradona goal against England),
all Turkish teams were furious with the referee as well
as the Turkish Football Association.
The score was 2-0 within 73 minutes on the clock! Everything
was perfect for Konyaspor. They were playing superb
football and El Saka had made a very impressive assist.
But after Anelka's handball, the Konyaspor players turned
very aggressive, leading to Ceyhun's red card and five
yellows.
Turkey Demands Re-Match:
After this match Galatasaray and Besiktas played in
the Turkcell Super League and those matches were interesting,
because the players came onto the pitch with a banner
saying "We want a clear league!"
Chairman of the Turkish Referees' Association called
the Konyaspor board and apologised for the referee's
decisions.
After the match Konyaspor's board singled out one message.
"Fenerbahce must clear that handball. We want to
play that match again!"
Manager Wanted to Quit; El Saka Kept Cool:
Konyaspor manager Aykut Kocaman nearly left Turkish
football. But Konyaaspor's board managed to convince
him against his emotional decision.
After the match Abdelzaher El Saka said in his fluent
Turkish, "All people make mistake. But that was
no mistake!"
After the decision, El Saka did appeal, but he still
calmed down his team-mates who were aggressive towards
the referee. After the game, many players were angry,
but El Saka was also attempting to calm them while going
off the pitch and inside the tunnel.
Belal Played Most of the Game:
Egyptian striker Ahmed Belal was unfortunately not good
during the match, as he was alone in the forward position
and couldn't escape the Fenerbahce defenders' marking.
He was however good with the ball when he had it, and
he confidently shot at goal a few times. He also made
a brilliant run during the first half before passing
the ball.
Match Highlights:
17. min: El Saka ran forward from his own area and
played two one-twos with the midfield. He then played
a fabulous through ball inside the box for Ceyhun, who
took a touch before firing into the goal. 1-0.
31. min: Yasin's cross from the left-hand side came
to Murat Hacioglu's, who struck the ball as it was coming
towards him on the volley. 2-0.
35. min: Erhan headed Ceyhun's good cross but goalkeeper
Volkan gathered the ball.
Half time: 2-0 to El Saka and Belal against the champions!

headed but Ozden caught the ball.
72. min: ANELKA HANDBALLED!!! Mehmet Yozgatli crossed
from the right wing. Anelka jumped with goalkeeper Ozden.
Not only did he trample over the goalie, but he scored
with his hand which was clearly stretched out. But all
the referees didn't spot his hand! All fans saw his
handball from the stands but the referees couldn't see
it! Konyaspor players objected the decision but the
result didn't change. 2-1.
76. min: Appiah crossed into the penalty area. Nobre
scored with a header. 2-2.
88. min. Alex's cross from a free-kick was for Nobre,
who again jumped very well and scored with his head.
2-3 with 2 minutes left!
89. min: Anelka was one on one with the goalkeeper,
as Konya attempted to attack. Kemal's pass beat the
defence and Anelka scored very comfortably. 2-4.
