After spending a few years in Europe
playing for PAOK, Saudi side Al-Shabab and Cypriot champions
Anorthosis, Egyptian versatile defender Amir Azmy Megahed
decided to return to Egypt and play for Zamalek.
Egyptian versatile defender Amir Azmy
Megahed decided to end his brief European career and
return to his home country, Egypt to play for Zamalek
starting from the next season.
The Egyptian asked for a wage increase
at his Cypriot side Anorthosis but the request was turned
down by the club which resulted in the Egyptian leaving
the team.
A few clubs were reported to be in talks
with Amir. Amongst those, a Greek club and another Cypriot
club. In addition to the player's former Egyptian club,
Zamalek.
The club official website revealed that
they won Amir's signature and the defender signed a
four year deal with Zamalek.
It should be noted that Amir is the 2nd Egyptian player abroad
to sign for Zamalek as the club already signed Trabzon's defensive
midfielder Ayman Abdel Aziz for four seasons.
It is also worth mentioning that Amir is the
4th Egyptian abroad to end his European career by the end
of the last season as Ayman Abdel Aziz, Sayed Moawad and Ahmed
Hassan also decided to return to their home country.
