Amir Azmy's Anorthosis won the league title
after a 2-1 home win over Doxa Katokopia on Saturday afternoon.
The win was enough to crown Amir's side as champions two
weeks before the end of the league.
Amir Azmy is the first Egyptian abroad
to win a European title this season. His side Anorthosis
won the Cypriot league competition on Saturday after
a narrow win over Doxa Katokopia by two goals to one.
Amir and his teammates at Anorthosis were
ready to celebrate the title win after the match but
they needed a victory in order to be crowned as champions.
Victory didn't come easy as the score was 1-1 till the
90th minute. However, a late goal by Constantinou gave
victory to Anorthosis and meant their win for the league
title.
Amir was integral part in Anorthosis success
in the competition. The Egyptian joined his side in
the January transfer window and made many appearances
for his new side. He also played on Saturday.
With this win, Anorthosis will play in the Champions League
qualifying round next season. They participated in the competition
this season and dropped to UEFA cup to face Tottenham Hotspur
at home but the game ended in a a humiliating 1-6 defeat.
EP congratulate Amir for winning the Cypriot
league title.
