It was not certain where the defender's
next step would be, with Zamalek claiming to have signed
him as well as the champions of Hungary coming close
to a contract. Amir chose to keep his European ambitions
alive with a somewhat strange move to Cyprus.
Amir terminated his contract at Al-Shabab of Saudi
Arabia by mutual consent, and signed for six months
in Cyprus with the option of renewing at the end of
the season.
He participated in the starting eleven of his new club
for the first time and played the full game earlier
this week.
Azmi played a defensive-midfield role in the first
half, and returned to the his usual centre-back position
after the interval.
He had a good debut, and Anorthusis lifted their total
to seven points, thus occupying the Group and creeping
towards a place in the finals of teh championship.
